Description

Moanalua Gardens Foundation (MGF) announces “Huakai o Kamananui…A Journey Into Kamananui” is the theme of the 36th Annual Prince Lot Hula Festival, at the spectacular Moanalua Gardens on Saturday, July 20, 2013, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“Our theme reflects MGF’s journey through the years to perpetuate the oli (chants) of Kamananui (Moanalua),” said Alika Jamile, MGF Executive Director and President. The festival is the largest non-competitive hula event in Hawaii, and features hula kahiko (ancient) hula and chant, and auana (modern) hula performances. Dancers will perform on one of the few remaining pa hula (hula mounds).

There is no charge to attend; however, a button donation to MGF is requested to raise funds to support the event. Local food and refreshments will be available for purchase throughout the day. The public, and visitors, are encouraged to bring their beach chairs and mats and enjoy fun, food and festivities at Moanalua Gardens. No commercial photography allowed.
